Inspiring cabinetry

We'll be looking to build some cabinetry for our family room and I've been busy searching for design.

As most of the walls in all our living areas are windows, I really want to make the most of the one wall in our family room.

It will need to house the TV and I'd like to be able to hide the DVD player, sound system etc as well have a few areas to display some precious momentos...

I really like the idea of this one.  Simple, functional, modern & the two-tone makes it interesting

I like how this one utilises the whole wall, the thick shelving and what appears to be mesh covered doors below which enables remotes to be used without opening them

I like the lighting under the shelves of this one and the long unit the TV is sitting on.

More your traditional style but nice & functional all the same.

Ultra modern, simplistic, nice lighting

Same as above however it shows the hidden movies screen!

Functional, modern, interesting.

This one has been made on the cheap using Ikea Besta!

What type of set up do you have in your living room?

Love these! I have been on the hunt for a decent lowline entertainment unit for months and cannot find what I want anywhere. Think getting it made might be a better idea!

When we moved in there was an alcove type area where the previous owners had a small tv unit. It looked silly floating in the big space and it was wasted space in a small lounge.

SO we built in a wall unit a in a fairly simple/slightly traditional style. 5 years on - I still love it.

I'll try and take a photo in the daylight tomorrow and share it.

Melissa, I'd love to see your wall unit if you get a chance to take a pic!

Keeley, at least by getting it made, you'll get exactly what you want.

Am still searching! Harder than finding a letterbox lol
I have looked at the white Besta a few times but the height I like means it would be three separate pieces at the bottom and I would prefer one unit. I bookmarked a site on my laptop that had some great units will share later :)

Hi Karla,

I will eventually have an upstairs living room that we will use as a library, and have been researching cabinet makers and came across 'Attard's Cabinetry' if you google them they have a fabulous gallery...

Cheers, Jen

Jen, thanks so much for sharing! Their work looks amazing and they're reasonably local. With our built in study nook as well as laundry and wardrobes needing to be fitted out, we may just be sending a bit of business their way!

Jess, would love to see what sites you have saved!

You are most welcome!

I'm planning a library, laundry, study and bar eventually and they seem to look the goods..

I rang them the other day and they said they will do an appointment pretty much any time that suits you and you can take your plans in and have a chat with them..

Good luck :)
(I think we all need it!)
