Plastered!

We have walls!  And how great it looks!

Now we can really feel the room size and everything feels nice and spacious.   I'm so glad we raised the ceiling height to 2590mm as you can really feel the difference.

I also LOVE the amount of natural light that comes in.  It was really important to me to have lots of natural light.  The photo's below have been taken today on quite an overcast day and it's still nice & bright inside.

A few more days yet to be spent on finishing the walls but here is what it's all looking like so far:

And here we have one of our little helpers

Here's our future study nook and wine rack alcove
(wine rack alcove to the right ;) ha ha)

Our little munchkins found a hidey hole behind the wine rack

Mud Room / Laundry

Looking down the other hall from our bedroom

Playroom - looking towards the future built in robe

Dad's bedroom

Dad's living area

Dad's future kitchen area (fridge alcove just to the left)

Dad's shower (and laundry alcove just to the right)

Garage

Lastly, we noticed through some gyprock that the roof's insulation has not been finished and 'B' also pointed out some pretty terrible looking brickwork at the front of the house.  For our own record, here are some photo's:

In general the top course of bricks has a few wonky bricks, missing mortar and just doesn't look the best

All going to plan, this week should see doors being hung and the skirting and architraves going on.  As well as the gyprock being finished.

Organising all those cords...

A few weeks ago I was researching cord labels on the internet because if you're anything like us, you have a heap of cords, chargers etc that you find hard to remember what goes with what!

I abandoned the effort because I could only find really expensive labels and labels are not something I'd spend much money on!

Flicking through a Howards Storage World catalogue this evening and there they are for only $12.95!

So I thought I'd share :)

Study Nook Inspiration

I've been perusing the internet for study nook inspiration and have some of the following to share.  I've had some saved in my photo folder for ages so hopefully I'll put all the appropriate links where I can...

How stunning is this little nook? LOVE the chair!!! Thanks Shayne for the link - see here!

This is modern, fresh & simple. Cute chair too.

Loving the red accents and window seat from here

Really love this type of desk arrangement & postcard feature wall from Young House Love

And here it is before being decorated

Love how an unused wardrobe has been turned into a study nook here

The next 2 gorgeous study nooks are from VT Interiors

Not entirely my style but I love the concept and layout from here

I've had this pic saved for a while from Centsational Girl.  Perfect for a little tuck away spot in a study nook.

Our study nook opening is going to be about 2m long and then on either side there'll be another 700mm to stash printers, files and all the things that make a desk / study look messy.

The below desk is the Besta Burs from Ikea and very similar to what we'll be using (check out the stunning red colour it comes in too!!)  I like the slim line drawer underneath and that there's plenty of room for 2 people to use at once.
And if you've wondered how to keep all your cords tidy, check out the Signum, also from Ikea for only $15!  You just attach it to the bottom of the desk.
Lastly, we've had an alcove built right next to our study nook to house a wine rack just like this shown in an  Eden Brae display home!
